Craig Rapp defends 2nd in Race 1 |
Michelin Porsche Club Championship: Rounds 6 & 7
Chris Egginton [968CS], Richard Lambert [Carrera] and Fraser Robertson [944] all picked up double class wins at Snetterton; but only after some great battles. Egginton got a poor start in race 1, with Peter Morris [968CS] taking the lead and the 911's of John Williams and Craig Rapp also getting ahead. But Williams spun on cold tyres on lap 1 and Egginton passed Rapp at Riches on lap 3. After his spin John Williams stormed back from 14th to 4th and was pushing Ian White [3.2 Carrera] for 3rd by the end of the 20 minute race. Meanwhile, Egginton caught Morris and took the lead off him as he went wide at the Esses on lap 6. In Class 2 Mark Rogers [SC Coupe] had a great race & held off Richard Lambert's Carrera until a mistake on the penultimate lap gave away the Class win.

Race 2 on Sunday saw Egginton get a flying start and with Williams, White and Morris all fighting for 2nd, he managed to establish a lead that wasn't threatened. Morris and White battled until lap 6 when Morris passed at Riches. Williams was running in 2nd until a damper failure finally got the better of him and he dropped back to 3rd. Richard Lambert won Class 2 after a race long battle with Rob Williams. In Class 3 Fraser Robinson continued his domination with two further wins in his 944.

Craig Rapp's GT3 wins the Porsche Open race 1.
|
Michelin Porsche Open Series Rounds 4 & 5:
Craig Rapp enjoyed his first start from pole in his Class 2 GT3, beating Richard Chamberlain who was driving the 930 Turbo of Ty Watkins. The pair were expecting a good battle in the race, but the transmission breaking on the 930 Turbo at the start gave Rapp an untroubled lights to flag victory in race 1. Chamberlain returned with his 935 for Sundays race and resumed his winning form. Tony Brown had sorted out previous problems with his 964 RSR and was rewarded with 3rd on the road and 2nd in Class for both events.
|
The GT3's of Henry Firman and Gerald Harrison enjoyed a great race long battle on Sunday, with Firman taking 3rd in Class after Harrison's transmission problems resurfaced. Chris Egginton took the spoils in Class 3 after defeating the 944 turbo of Gordon Matthew. Alex Eacock and Tim Bevan in the 944 Class enjoyed another couple of close races, but Eacock once again proved unstoppable claiming another couple of wins.
