SEAT Cupra Championship: SILVERSTONE 17-18 September 2005
Chris Egginton reports: We arrived at Silverstone with a radically different set up with the aim of trying to make the back of the car a little looser to promote a better turn in as I've been struggling with adapting my driving style to a front wheel drive car. Despite the best efforts of the Team it soon became apparent from sector and data analysis that I was struggling with the two slow corners Becketts and Luffield. I couldn't get the car stopped for Becketts repeatedly missing the apex, and at Luffield I was just to slow from the turn in to the second apex - which is more due to bottle than anything else!!! I managed to put a good lap together in qualifying one, doing my best time of the whole weekend with a 1:05:07, but this was only good enough for 10th.

In the second session I struggled to find any kind of consistent pace and only managed a 1:05:3 which again put me in 10th place
Race 1:
I had a good start from the outside of the grid but on the |

| first run into Becketts I was forced to cut the corner tighter than normal and bounced the car across the kerb, after this I was struggling with turn-in under steer. The first time into Luffield I was caught up behind Ian Churchill and Jonathon Young who both span, I had to avoid them which let Harry Vaulkhard passed me. I tried to hang onto Young when he came back through the pack but out broke myself going into Luffield and finished up in the gravel trap - spelling the end of race 1 for me!

Race 2:
Once again I had a really good start but I was soon shuffled down the pack as I was hung out to dry on the way down to Becketts. My tyres were shot after being hot dip coated in gravel after | race 1 and it took a few laps to clean them back up. After it all shook out I had Nick Leason and Mike Doble right up my tail pipe for most of the race, I managed to hold on and finish 9th just 0.4 of a second ahead of Doble. I really enjoyed the second race even though I spent most of the time looking behind me!!!
