MICHELIN PORSCHE OPEN - BRANDS HATCH
Chris Egginton has today announced that he will be competing in the Michelin Porsche
Open round at Brands Hatch on the 14-15 June.
Egginton will be running in the Team GVR / Silmet Porsche 993 RSR that he drove so
successfully in the Porsche Open double header event at Brands last August, when he
won twice.
This is also the car that Peter Morris drove at Donington this year to take an excellent
2nd place to Phil Hindley?s Porsche GT3, at the opening round of the season.
Team manager Gordon Wardle explains: "Chris has had some rotten luck this year,
what with the accident at Donington in February with the GT3 and then the racing
incident at Silverstone when he was taken out on the first lap, in his first race in the
Porsche Club Championship. We've been working hard to find a suitable donor 968 CS
to get Chris back out in the Club Championship, but it takes time.
?Peter Morris started the season driving the 993 RSR with great success. However he?s
dropping a few rounds this season due to funding difficulties.
Wardle adds: "Chris has driven the 993 RSR with great success in the past, competing
in both Porsche Open and European GT?s. Brands Hatch is an ideal circuit to get him
back out doing what he does best.?
Chris Egginton said: ?The 993 RSR is a fantastic car. I?m really looking forward to racing
at Brands as this is a circuit I enjoy. I hope I can match my performance of last time out
here - with a win!?
